Building Estimator – Casual with a view to Permanent employment.

Location: Ipswich

Employment Type: Casual → Potential Full‑Time

Remuneration: $65/Hour

Our client, a respected construction company with decades of experience across Brisbane, Ipswich and South East Queensland, is seeking a motivated and detail‑focused Building Estimator to support continued growth. The Role: Building Estimator

This position is offered for up to 6 months, with the intention of transitioning into a permanent role for the right candidate.

You will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive tenders, reviewing project documentation, and supporting project delivery teams during quieter tender periods. Projects range up to $15,000,000 across commercial, residential, industrial and refurbishment sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tendering & Estimating
  • Prepare and submit tenders for projects up to $15M.
  • Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and addendums.
  • Perform accurate quantity take‑offs using PlanSwift or similar software.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Set up tender submissions in client‑required formats.
  • Review, compare and assess quotations for compliance and completeness.
  • Prepare tender writing, supporting documentation and submission packages.
  • Respond to RFIs and tender clarifications.
  • Export and format tender details for Excel and project/financial management systems.
  • Systems, Filing & Administration
  • File tenders and documentation within internal systems.
  • Maintain organised tender records and communication logs.
  • Receive training in internal estimating and management platforms.
  • Project Support
  • Assist Contracts Administration and Project Administration teams when not actively tendering.


About You:

You will be well‑suited to the role if you have:

  • Experience in estimating or a similar construction industry role.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical capability.
  • Familiarity with PlanSwift or other take‑off tools (desirable, not essential).
  • Effective communication with suppliers, subcontractors and clients.
  • The ability to manage deadlines and work independently or within a team.
  • A proactive, team‑oriented mindset.
