Position: Yard & Transport Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Yard & Transport Supervisor to lead our Client’s growing operations team on site in Riverview, QLD. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant movement, storage and coordination of products and transport assets on site while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

About the Role
The Yard & Transport Supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily yard and transport functions, ensuring the efficient utilisation of yard resources, mobile plant and transport assets. With a strong focus on safety, compliance and accuracy, you will oversee load scheduling, truck loading/unloading, inventory control and subcontractor management.
Communication is critical; you will act as the central link between production, transport providers, site leadership and yard staff—ensuring smooth operations, timely information flow and continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational & Transport Management
- Oversee daily load scheduling, truck loading/unloading and transport coordination
- Ensure compliance with all Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation
- Drive cost improvements through effective fleet and asset utilisation
- Manage relationships with transport providers and subcontractors
- Yard & Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate daily stock reconciliations, cycle counts and stocktakes
- Optimise yard storage locations for improved efficiency and profitability
- Monitor and order yard raw materials and ensure maximum utilisation of mobile plant
- Leadership & Communication
- Provide strong leadership to yard and transport staff, including training and development
- Lead daily and weekly toolbox talks
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify roadblocks impacting safety, performance or profitability
- Safety & Compliance
- Conduct safety walks and audits to ensure adherence to safe work procedures
- Promote a strong safety culture, including PPE compliance and hazard reporting
- Ensure safe loading practices in accordance with CoR and workplace safety standards
- Environmental & Quality Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to spillages, incidents and near misses
- Support the improvement of yard and transport quality systems
- Report any system failures and contribute to preventative actions

- Accurate, on-time load scheduling and dispatch
- Safe and efficient truck loading/unloading, every time
- Compliance with CoR and internal safety standards
- Accurate daily inventory acceptance and cycle counts
- Streamlined yard processes improving efficiency and cost savings
Site Hazards Awareness
You will be required to work safely around:
- Mobile plant and transport truck interactions
- Working at heights on truck decks
- Outdoor environments (heat and weather exposure)
- Manual handling tasks and slippery surfaces
Skills & Experience You'll Need
- Previous and proven supervision or leadership experience in transport, logistics, yard or warehousing
- Strong understanding of Chain of Responsibility requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead, train and develop a diverse team
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
