Building Estimator – Casual with a view to permanent employment.
Location: Ipswich
Employment type: Casual with potential full-time employment
Remuneration: $65 per hour
Our client is a respected construction company with decades of experience across Brisbane, Ipswich and South East Queensland. They are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Building Estimator to support continued growth. This is a rare opportunity to join a long-standing organisation known for quality workmanship, clear communication and strong industry relationships.
They are a socially responsible employer committed to flexibility, professional development and building long-term relationships with their team. For the right person, flexible work arrangements and ongoing support are available.
The role is for a Building Estimator and is offered for up to six months, with the intention of transitioning into a permanent role for the right candidate.
You will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders, reviewing project documentation, and supporting project delivery teams during quieter tender periods. Projects range up to $15,000,000 across commercial, residential, industrial and refurbishment sectors.
Key responsibilities include preparing and submitting tenders for projects up to $15 million, reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications and addendums, and performing accurate quantity take-offs using PlanSwift or similar software. You will obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, set up tender submissions in client-required formats, and review, compare and assess quotations for compliance and completeness. The role also involves preparing tender writing, supporting documentation and submission packages, responding to RFIs and tender clarifications, and exporting and formatting tender details for Excel and project or financial management systems.
Additional responsibilities include filing tenders and documentation within internal systems, maintaining organised tender records and communication logs, and receiving training in internal estimating and management platforms. When not actively tendering, you will assist the Contracts Administration and Project Administration teams.
You will be well suited to this role if you have experience in estimating or a similar construction industry role, strong attention to detail and analytical capability, and effective communication skills with suppliers, subcontractors and clients. Familiarity with PlanSwift or other take-off tools is desirable but not essential. You should be able to manage deadlines, work independently or as part of a team, and bring a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
What’s on offer includes flexible work arrangements for the right candidate, a supportive and socially responsible workplace culture, training in internal systems and processes, and the opportunity to transition to full-time employment following the contract period.
