Production Labourer – Food Manufacturing – Wacol, QLD

Location: Wacol, QLD
Employment Type: Casual (Temporary)
Pay Rate: $31.18/hr (Casual)
Hours: Full-time, ongoing - Monday to Friday, 5:45am – 2:10pm
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Role Purpose

Are you experienced in Food Production and you’re looking for a new and exciting opportunity? We are seeking motivated and reliable candidates to join our Client’s busy Food Production Plant in Wacol. We’re seeking dedicated staff to produce high-quality food products on a daily basis in line with the production schedule, while strictly adhering to all safety, quality, hygiene, and food safety processes and procedures.

Main Accountabilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Production & Operations

  • Undertake pre- and post-production checks of equipment and GMP items
  • Mix, blend, and prepare food products and ingredients for manufacture
  • Read and interpret recipes, formulas, and production instructions
  • Weigh ingredients, fill blenders, and prepare stabiliser blends to specification and schedule
  • Operate production equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
  • Load and unload items from machines and conveyor belts
  • Identify and report issues such as leaks, clogs, or bridging in equipment
  • Check gauges, dials, indicators, and temperature levels to ensure correct operation
  • Mark and label bags for identification and traceability
  • Weigh finished product and samples to verify packaging weight
  • Collect samples at required intervals and send to the laboratory
  • Accurately record production data and results

Hygiene, Cleaning & Housekeeping

  • Clean and sanitise utensils, work surfaces, and production equipment
  • Prepare machines for production and scrap waste material when required
  • Clean production areas, including sweeping, vacuuming, and debris removal
  • Maintain production and warehouse areas in a clean and hygienic state

Safety, Food Safety & Quality

  • Follow all personnel safety, food safety, and quality procedures at all times
  • Report any safety, food safety, or quality hazards to supervisors promptly
  • Follow production scheduling plans to control allergen cross-contamination
  • Take and follow instructions from supervisors and managers
  • Assist in other areas or perform additional duties as required

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Maintain and improve EHS standards and requirements set by the Company
  • Participate in EHS programs, training sessions, and audits
  • Assist with Emergency Response, EHS Committee, or support roles where applicable
  • Complete mandatory safety training and audits as required
  • Align individual goals with the site Strategic Plan
  • Identify, control, and help eliminate production environment hazards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Life Saving Principles (LSP), Stop Work Authority, and Product Protection Principles (PPP)
  • Participate in site safety observations
  • Report near misses or unsafe acts immediately
  • Comply with mask-wearing requirements
  • Wear appropriate PPE correctly at all times

Performance Measures

  • Completion of required safety training and audits
  • Timely reporting of near misses, unsafe acts, and Stop Work Authority events
  • Minimisation of blend and production deviations
  • Accurate and timely completion of production boards and documentation

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Competencies

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational ability
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), and food safety regulations

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Food Processing or Warehousing (desirable but not essential)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment (desirable but not essential)

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of food processing equipment (advantageous)
  • Manual handling awareness
  • LF Forklift Licence with proven experience operating a stand-up forklift (not mandatory)
  • Physically fit and able to pass a FIT test
  • High standard of personal hygiene
  • Reliable transport for early morning starts
