Workshop Manager – Manufacturing / Production

About the Role

Recruitment 247 is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager for a well established industrial manufacturing and production environment within the Ipswich region.

This is a hands on leadership role suited to someone with a strong mechanical or trade background (heavy fitter, boilermaker, mechanical trade, or similar) who understands how industrial workshops operate and can confidently manage experienced production personnel.

The role oversees daily workshop operations, production scheduling, people management, safety, and quality — ensuring work is delivered on time, to standard, and safely.

The Opportunity

    Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage workshop and production personnel
  • Plan, manage, and execute daily and forward production schedules
  • Ensure all builds are completed to agreed BOMs, quality standards, and timeframes
  • Monitor productivity, labour utilisation, and non productive hours
  • Oversee parts usage, materials, and stock levels
  • Maintain strong compliance with WHS, quality, and environmental requirements
  • Conduct quality control checks prior to job completion
  • Ensure accurate time recording and production data capture
  • Manage workplace incidents, safety breaches, and corrective actions
  • Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and facilities
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes and team performance

    About You

    You are a confident workshop leader who has come up through the trades, understands manufacturing realities, and can lead highly skilled production staff without being out of your depth.

    Essential:
  • Relevant mechanical or trade qualification (e.g. Boilermaker, Heavy Fitter, Mechanical Trade)
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing or production environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing workshop or production teams
  • Strong capability in production scheduling and workflow planning
  • Solid understanding of parts, BOMs, and build processes
  • Confident people manager with the ability to set standards and drive accountability
  • Computer literate with experience using ERP systems (MYOB Acumatica experience highly regarded)
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance

    Highly Regarded:
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing, machinery, forklifts, earthmoving, or similar industries
  • Previous OEM or large scale industrial workshop exposure
  • Forklift licence
  • Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Safety, First Aid, or WHS qualifications
